FUNDRAISING - DONATIONS

Since establishment of the non-profit Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club, Inc. in 1988, each spring the club sold various products as its major fundraising activity. Over the years the percentage of players selling and the revenue derived from this effort decreased.

As a result, in 1999 we began a different fund-raising approach, a "painless fundraiser". We asked parents to make a tax-deductible contribution to the club if they or their children did not sell food items. This was quite successful in 1999 and in 2000; we raised more money with the "painless fundraiser" than was our commission from past food sale fundraisers, and it was a whole lot easier for all concerned.

So, we have eliminated the food sales and are relying primarily on the "painless fundraiser". We are asking parents to make a tax-deductible contribution to AYLC, a registered charitable organization under Internal Revenue Code Sec. 501c. Remember to keep your cancelled check as your receipt, or print your Paypal donation receipt for tax purposes.

Help support the Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club by making a secure donation via Paypal using your Paypal Account or any major credit card. You can also donate via a check or money order payable to, AYLC, Inc., and mail it to:
PO Box 5200, Arlington, VA 22205.

WHY WE USE PAYPAL FOR DONATIONS

The ACTIVE.COM online registration site that we are presently using for our club registrations charges a fee PLUS a percentage of any donations they track and record for an organization. PAYPAL, which we use, has lower fees than all of the other "online" payment options, ACTIVE.COM included. We are presently engaged in discussion with Paypal/Ebay to get them to donate their services to our club.

HOW YOUR DONATION IS USED BY AYLC.

We ask for donations to our club because, simply put, the registration fee paid by each player does not cover the club expenses for each player's participation.

You may contribute a donation in any amount, at any time. Your donations are tax-deductible. If you use Paypal or a major credit card for your donation you may print your own receipt, or if donating by check or money order, keep the check or money order "stub" as your receipt.

Your generous contributions go to the support of scholarships for underprivileged players, equipment purchases, training of coaches and the training of "junior" referees. Donations to our organization DO NOT affect a player's assignment to a team, or how they will be treated as a player. The Club Commissioner, and possibly the Webmaster, are the only individuals with knowledge of donations given and donation amounts.

The club's ongoing expenses include: insurance for players, league and referee fees, goals, nets and field line paint, balls and boys and girls uniforms. (Boys equipment costs about $250.00 per set, and we must buy replacements for worn out equipment each year. Girls use less equipment, but their sticks and uniforms are more expensive than boys.) The club has administrative expenses such as photocopying and postage for our various mailings, post office box rental, telephone and computer expenses. We also sponsor end of season picnics with awards for all players. In addition, the club provides scholarships for those players whose families cannot afford to pay the registration fees. (We do not pay Arlington County for use of its fields, other than for summer camps.)

Donations are NOT refundable if a registered player withdraws from the organization.
