Northern Virginia game leagues for youth boys and girls are held summer, fall and winter for experienced players, with no scheduled practices. These leagues are under the auspices of the following organizations:
Games in summer and fall are played at various outdoor locations; with winter games at indoor locations with reduced field surface sizes. A minimum of one season of competitive experience is often required, regardless of grade or age. Emphasis is on skill development in team play. AYLC players participate either by forming complete teams or, if there are insufficient numbers, with players from other Clubs to form teams. Coaches from AYLC are often involved. From June to January "box" lacrosse (5 players and 1 goalkeeper per team) is available for experienced men, women and high school players.
